Christmas Newsletter - 2011

Merry Christmas to all!

Just a quick note to update you on the comings and goings of the McGraw’s – we started 2011 with a fantastic and warm trip to Acapulco with our grandson, Johan, and daughter-in-law, Aida, to meet her parents and extended family.  Next, came a month-long vacation in San Diego in March.  Unfortunately spring never came to Minnesota this year; so, we still had a couple months’ of cold weather when we returned.  Oh well, we can’t complain – at least we didn’t see snow in March.  Although we did have to live through the tsunami warnings along the coast!

We enjoyed a wonderful summer going to our other two grandson’s ball games. Dean is now eight, in second grade, and is in hockey.  Timmy is five and in kindergarten – and loves having homework!  Johan is four and in pre-school and loves going on the bus.  We are so lucky to have all three of them living so close to us as we see them often.

At the beginning of the year, I joined two writing groups.  One meets every Monday and we take turns choosing the topic and leading the group. The other meets monthly and we help each other out with grammar and writing techniques.  I am enjoying both groups immensely and, in fact, this is the reason why you are receiving one of my articles in the form of a Holiday newsletter!

We made our yearly visit to Reno to see David at the end of June and he came back in October to run in the Twin Cities Marathon.  I had an abdominoplasty in July and after recovering from that, spent some good family catch-up time in August with my brother, Steve, who lives in River Falls, Wisconsin, and our sister, Joanne, who came up from Florida for a visit.

Norm had knee problems this year so he ended up having a knee replacement in October.  And, as I write this, he is recuperating at a very fast rate and doing very well!  His goal is to be pain free and able to walk on the beach when we take another winter vacation in February.  All-in-all, a GREAT 2011.  We’re looking forward to a wonderful 2012 as well and wish you all the same.  Happy New Year!
