A Vogel Brothers (and spouses) Trip: July 1969

Bert & Elsie Vogel Journal Stories

Friday – left dock at 5:15pm.  Motor trouble @ 6pm.  Fixed by Medevac’s Walter and Lee @ 6:15pm.  Fished between two islands.  Elsie caught first fish.  Camp director not eligible for prizes.  Walter – first fish for men.  Dirty picture.  Cook (Anita) now directing search for fishing spots.  Caught 15 sunfish.

Steak for dinner.  Beautiful!  Anita dumped the potatoes on the floor – delicious.  Mosquitos.

Bingo – coverall for $1.00.  Men won $6.00.

Bingo - 25 cents a card.  Lee won $2.75.

Went to bed.  Everybody snored all night long.

Saturday – Somebody woke everybody at 7:00am.

Cruised through Rush Hen Lake to Lower Whitefish Lake.  Fished all day for walleyes.  Caught one 3-pound Northern.

Bert’s pants fell down – Jeanette almost died laughing.  Cruised to find spot for the night.  Found it.  Caught 7-pound Northern on first cast.  No further luck.

Ate fish for supper.  Very good.  Played cards – no fights so far.

Sunday – Walter got up at 5:00am.  Nobody knows why.  Lee followed shortly after.  Walter cleaned the 7-pound Northern and we ate it for breakfast.  Real good.

Anita and Elsie went swimming.  Started back to the dock about noon.  Had a bad time finding it.

Jeanette got a hook in her arm; but, she survived.

Returned to my house about 6:00.  Ate BBQ ribs.  Watched the moon-walk on TV.  I think everybody had a good time.

Total cost – about $30 per couple.
